The Gymnastics Test
"Amber you're up."
Her mind goes blank,
Her heart grabbing its sneakers.
What was that routine again?
She starts fretting,
Laser eyes burning through her.
No, must concentrate,
She becomes oblivious of
the eyes staring at her.
The room is empty.
Salute, step, go,
Full stretch, pointed toes now.
"Relax, do it like it's
your last practice."
Almost there, Done!
Ending salute.
She runs to her group,
Almost fainting in relief.

Room 18's First Voicethread!
Ethan and Reanna created this voicethread to reflect on our football skills with the Napier City Rovers. They got most of the class to join in by adding comments with voice, words or doodles.

Football
Something I was pleased with was my shooting at the goal.
I really enjoyed playing the game at the end.
Something I found hard was shooting from long distances.

WALT dodge
For PE we have been learning to dodge. To improve our dodging we are playing skill-based games and then reflecting on our learning. Yasmin reflected on the IWB today after we played Shadow Partner and Octopus. Octopus was the class favourite. Mr M :)

Swimming a Mile
Xavier was one of the many Room 18 children who completed their 200 metre swim at the Frimley Aquatic Centre a while back. Here he is pictured with Ben (after they both achieved the 200 metres). Below is a great poem Xavier wrote about the experience. He uses descriptive language well to show emotion, colour and personality. His writing has voice.

SWIMMING A MILE
Thump, Thump, Thump.
My heart was beating like crazy
I was next in line for swimming the 200m challenge.
I was about to back out but...
the whistle went.
Damn, I thought as I dived into the ice cold pool.
I was doing well until the last 5 metres.
My legs were so tired they stopped working!!!
Oh no.
I'm mince meat.
But as I was thinking I'm mince meat
I had done it!!!

Softball Skills

We have been learning softball skills with the amazing coach, Grant Hastings. We love it! Reanna created a comic to show some of the skills we are learning. "Point, step, throw!"
