WALT sail an optimist yacht

Something I found hard was finding which way to pick up more speed because the wind would change direction.
Something I was pleased with was myself for trying my best and having a go.
Something I really enjoyed was learning how to sail an optimist yacht because I had forgotten some things we had learnt last year.
Something that made me think was naming parts of the yacht because they have so many parts on the yacht and can be difficult to remember.
Something I want to get better at is controlling the mainsheet to go faster or slower.
I can improve this by getting some help from a good sailor.

WALT: Interpret Information From Graphs

A reminder of the great work Room 18 did, interpreting information from graphs in term two. We learnt about strip, bar and pie graphs and how the same data seems different if it is displayed on different types of graphs. Some graphs illustrate (show) certain things clearer than others.
This unit got us using proportions, fractions and percentages. We were able to use statistical vocabulary such as data, categories and make and evaluate statements.
Most of all, we used our key competencies, working together in teams.

H & D (Half and Double)

Junathan and Raiha created this awesome photostory to show a strategy their group (The Coordinates) learnt in maths. They took great photos and and explained their strategy clearly. They showed fantastic teamwork (relating to others), creativity and thinking!

Environmental Care Code

We created symbols for each part of the Environmental Care Code. It helped us to understand how we need to act as visitors to a National Park.
Only eleven more days to camp!

Adrian the Bird

Adrian is the newest member of Room 18. His camp animal is a bird. He used MS Paint to turn his photo into an Adrian / bird hybrid for our learning buddy wall. Well done Adrian!

Learning Buddy Criteria

We discussed what we thought made a great learning buddy this afternoon. The brainstrom below shows our criteria. Then we had a fun drawing activity, where each buddy had to draw to their buddy's instructions while blindfolded. It was hilarious! Afterwards, we reflected on the activity and added TRUST to our criteria.

Learning Buddies

Shannon and Summer have created comics which display some of the key competencies Room 18 used when creating DACTA robots. We are learning to be the best learning buddies that we can be!

We loved Harry's Teach a Talent. It was entertaining, fun and got lots of us involved. He created a very entertaining, well narrated photostory to remind us. Thank you to Shamara for capturing the action with his photos.
