The ride of the Katipo!

Jack lay on the soft sand, sitting beside what used to be the body of the Katipo. Frightening thoughts started to appear in his brain. Just then a voice interrupted his thought.

“Jack breakfast is ready!” said his dad.  He could already taste the melted butter. As he dreamily walked up the steps he thought to himself “finally free at last”. Jack was right, Jack Talbot had stepped out of the shadows for the first time in 2 years.

Kaitawa Funnies

Ben and Reanna learnt a lot about video making when they used Windows Live Movie Maker to create this movie. They created it from lots of different video clips and added photos, captions, transitions and titles. I am especially impressed with their editing and how they kept to their original idea of showing the humour of camp.

Two Thirds

In groups we came up with different ways of showing two thirds. Here are photos of everyone's work and a video of the first group presenting their poster (Ben, Reanna, Yasmin & Riki).

Red Cross

Something I was pleased with was how Liz gave us the whole class a booklet about first aid.

I really enjoyed bandaging and elevating Breanna’s arm. I also enjoyed putting Breanna in the recovery position.

Something I found really hard was breathing with my nose blocked and chin on chest.

Something that made me think was how to make an elevate cast.

Something I want to get better at is learnig to bandage other peoples arms.

Something I want to get better at is learning how to deal with broken bones.

The Fractals applied their knowledge of rounding to solve these problems involving money. They really extended their thinking to round to the nearest $1 000.
Rounding is useful when you want a quick estimate.

Halloween

"No don't do it I don't want to die!" shouted my brother.

Ok, you're probably guessing that my brother is about to be murdered right, well he's not. We are playing a game called COPS AND ROBBERS! I'm battling my brother. I am holding this fake gun but you see my brother thinks it's a real gun. It is Halloween tonight and my brother my sister and I are going trick or treating! It's awesome because we get to ask people for lollies. I got a whole basket full once.

My brother is dressed up as a pirate, my sister is dressed as a witch and I am dressed as a vampire but this vampire costume is so itchy. At the first house I quickly raced up the door and knocked. I stood back and said to myself "trick or treat. What am I going to say if they ask for a trick, um?"

Suddenly the door swung open. "Yes?" asked a boy in a pink t-shirt and grey jeans. He looked about 12-13 years old. I sung "trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something nice to eat, if you don't, I don't care, turn around I see your underwear!"

This boy said "wow! Here have this bag of lollies." I stuffed the bag in my basket said "thank you" and raced down the path of the house laughing evilly "ha-ha."

When we arrived home Mum asked "did you use your manners?" "Yes" we all said smiling, walking slowly into our bedrooms …
