Say Talofa To Tonga!

We are learning to persuade. We have been creating advertisements about our World Cup countries. Their purpose is to persuade the viewer to visit Tonga or Scotland. Olivia's advertisement is a great example and model to others.

FOOTBALL WITH SUMMER

The flying fear

I take my seat. I remember the windy whack back outside, when the wind blurted in my face as if it were green paint thrown at your face. I try making this flight a really enjoyable one.
The aeroplane transports to its place on the departure air strip, I hear the aeroplane's propellers roar in my ear.
We are off…
We are in the sky, 2000 feet above the ground and rising, rising as if it were a flood. Then all of a sudden the aisle lights between the seats start to blink as if they were gonna explode!!
I think we are about halfway to Australia. I've been studying the wings of the plane the whole trip, now they are rattling as if they were gonna fall off! Then the plane starts to drop, drop like a bird being shot out of the sky. We hit the ground with a great THUD!!!
I realise that we did not crash, we had just landed at the Brisbane airport.

Room 18's First Voicethread!

Ethan and Reanna created this voicethread to reflect on our football skills with the Napier City Rovers. They got most of the class to join in by adding comments with voice, words or doodles.

Football

Something I was pleased with was my shooting at the goal.
I really enjoyed playing the game at the end.
Something I found hard was shooting from long distances.

Ride of the Katipo Epilogue 4

EPILOGUE
Jack stood out side the rebuilt church with the old vicar and a bucket of motorcycle polisher. “It looks good Jack. Well better than it did,” chuckled the vicar. It had been 9 months since the fire at Shipwreck Bay.
Jack was polishing his old friend because he was taking it down to Manuka flats with his blood red bandana and his oil skin coat to show all his mates. "Are you going to walk it down or ride it?"
"What do you think?” said Jack. Roar!!!!!

Ride of the Katipo Epilogue 2

The ride of the Katipo!
Jack lay on the soft sand, sitting beside what used to be the body of the Katipo. Frightening thoughts started to appear in his brain. Just then a voice interrupted his thought.
“Jack breakfast is ready!” said his dad.  He could already taste the melted butter. As he dreamily walked up the steps he thought to himself “finally free at last”. Jack was right, Jack Talbot had stepped out of the shadows for the first time in 2 years.

Ride of the Katipo Epilogue 1

Jack Talbot, the Katipo was a free and young man. As he was gliding in the air on the top of the hill, a sunrise was coming. As the sun rose Jack heard a voice below. The voice said “Jack time for breakfast”. It was the Vicar and his friends.
As he emerged out of the shadows Jack said this in his head “one year it has been, one year since I have had an adventure, one year I have been the Katipo and one year since the Katipo first… rode… again!”

Statistics Data

I was pleased with learning how to make a stem and leaf graph with numbers.
I really enjoyed learning how to add numbers in the stem and leaf graph.
Something I found hard was putting all the hundreds tens and ones in order.
Something that made me think was adding the numbers to the stem and leaf graph.
Something that I want to get better at is looking at the numbers properly to put them in order.

WALT sail an optimist yacht

Something I found hard was finding which way to pick up more speed because the wind would change direction.
Something I was pleased with was myself for trying my best and having a go.
Something I really enjoyed was learning how to sail an optimist yacht because I had forgotten some things we had learnt last year.
Something that made me think was naming parts of the yacht because they have so many parts on the yacht and can be difficult to remember.
Something I want to get better at is controlling the mainsheet to go faster or slower.
I can improve this by getting some help from a good sailor.

Scotland and its rugby.

In 1871 Scotland beat England in their first international rugby union game. At the first Rugby World Cup in 1987, the Scottish also made their World Cup debut. Scotland's best finish in the Rugby World Cup was in 1991, where they lost to N.Z to make them 4th
At the moment Scotland is ranked 7th in the world behind Wales, England, France, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
The Scottish also competes in the six nations.
The teams in the six nations are: England, France, Ireland, Italy, Wales and Scotland.
On a high, their biggest win was against Japan where they won 100-8, then on a low their biggest loss was against South Africa where they lost 68-10.
At the moment they are coached by Andy Robinson who surprisingly is from England.

Also here is a picture of them playing.

The S.L.S. (Solar Lunar Suit)

The S.L.S (solar lunar suit) is a functional space suit. Powered by the sun (solar power) and the moon (lunar power) it charges whenever the powers low. It's equipped with an air producer destroying any chemicals and producing it into air to help you breath! Also it comes in 1 style yourself it changes to whatever suits you best. e.g.: Amber = dragons! (Diagram)
! What it's used for!
The S.L.S is of course a fully functional space suit used for finding life in outer space (or other things it's your choice!) It's equipped with an U.P.S (universal positioning system (like a G.P.S besides for space) that makes it a lot easier to find planets, galaxies, and other things in space that have been found and named in the universe. It's also equipped with a video camera in case of a new discovery!
! Others!
Solar and lunar
The S.L.S is solar and lunar powered. With solar and lunar panels all over its back it's being charged twenty four seven.
U.P.S

The U.P.S on the S.L.S is built into the screen all you need to do is press the button on the side of the helmet to activate it.
Control panel
The S.L.S has a control panel on the left arm for right handed people or on the right arm for left handed people. It controls your whole space suite! !YOUR WHOLE SPACESUIT!

Conclusion

The S.L.S is a very exceptional spacesuit. It can be used for long voyages or just short ones and it's now in stores so get one quick
P.S it also comes with food, water, and a protection system. It turns on whenever danger approaches (asteroids, extra terrestrials, or other things)

Hollie’s incident!!!

Last year I was in Room 18.
Our class was playing splash.
Their was this girl called Hollie. She was a chatter box.
But she got given revenge with a rip in her pants.
She was called to duck so she wouldn't get splashed. Then as she bent, she ripped her pants and the class was cracking up. Hollie started crying in happy tears.
She backed away to the wall and Greer her BFF took her to the sick bay to get a new pair of scorts to wear.
It should be called the funny bay.
Ohhh boy I've got that stuck in my head now.
That was a funny day.

The beastly dragon

Once there was a village which was haunted, by a beastly dragon. Every night this horrible dragon would disappear into the night. But on this night a little girl, Alison saw the dragon sleeping on top of the supermarket.
'Mum,' said Alison.
'Yes' said Alison's mother, whose name is Jenny.
'I can see the dragon sleeping on top of the supermarket!' shouted Alison. 'Just go to bed,' replied Jenny.
Alison yawned, she decided that she was seeing things and went to bed. That night she dreamed that she was riding on the dragon's back and flying to a much richer and fancier place. Everything there was high tech.
The next morning the dragon seemed friendly then Alison saw that someone was giving meat to the dragon. Alison could not bear to look, she looked and to her surprise this person was riding the dragon! Just like in her dream!
The dragon seemed perfectly happy. Everyone came rushing out of their houses including her too, to see this wonderful sight. Then they all heard 'the dragon's fine, she just needed cheering up!' It was shouted out by the wonderful person riding the dragon. 'Yahoooooooooooooooooooo!' exclaimed everyone.
And they all lived happily ever after.

How the L.S.O.P.P WORKS.

Can we survive on all the other pitiful planets?
Think NO, well now you can with the L.S.O.P.P spacesuit advanced. The LSOPP stands for life saver on poisonous planets. This is a fully functional space suit, it gives you all the life support you want.
The LSOPP space suit runs on heartbeats from a human, so no need to keep buying AAA batteries ALL THE TIME.
Our new space suit doesn't just have one pair of shoes. Actually it has all the pairs of shoes you can get put only into one pair of shoes called surface shoes. The spacesuit also has an Alien translator which turns their language into your language; we installed this feature just in case you bump into an alien on the way. We have also installed something called O.U.P.S [our universal positioning system] which works exactly like a G.P.S.
Now let's get into the more technical stuff.
You know how it can get really hot in a space suit. Well that will never happen in the LSOPP advanced since it's got a cooling & heating system which will change your body temperature into a nice relaxing feeling. Well every spacesuit should have this….. A radio transmitter, this one though can call all the way around the universe. This is the extra fun zone you're going to read.
The LSOPP has some awesome grapple hooks for staying on the planet you're on or for getting small heavy souvenir. This spacesuit also has a built in jet pack for flying over high mountains or volcanoes. The LSOPP spacesuit has a flat screen TV. Just in case your fav movie is on this particular hour. If you don't want to watch TV we installed a SB [silly bob] which is like a little elf that will make you laugh out loud.
These are the things you'd strictly need. An oxygen tank fuelled to max for your breathing purpose, a hydration box for perfect hydration. This is something quite fancy a food tasting air compressor which makes the air taste like your favourite meal.
The LSOPP can also blow up any unexpected guests. The LSOPP stands for life saver on poisonous planets.

Hockey Skills

Breanna was our class blogger this week. She decided to take photos of our P.E. lesson and created this video. She has had a very productive week!

THE L.S.S

INTRO
The L.S.S (Lunar Solar Suit) is a spacesuit for people who are a bit random and like to have heaps of fun (and do no work!!). It is very stylish and comes in four types – girly girl-Sam boys-boys-and tom girls. It has an air producer that makes air from carbon dioxide so you can never run out. It works on solar and lunar sources.
HOW IT WORKS!!
The L.S.S is used for planet explorations to see if there could possibly be life & also for fun trips to all planets.
It has a built in air conditioner made for all temperatures. So that all planets can be explored from Mercury to Pluto.
The L.S.S has a connected Nintendo DSi to its fashionable arm. The Nintendo holds 1 R4 card with 25 games. Some of them are Mario carts, Kirby, Final Fantasy and Pokémon Pearl and Diamond.
My space suit also comes with a UPS (universal positioning system) that also works on solar and lunar sources.
So you don't miss your friends and family I have included a special camera that can `connect' to your family's computer, so that you can talk to them through it. It comes up on your mask.
Because you might be staying there for a while I have included a free inflatable mansion pack. Inside the inflatable home you get 2 million gallons of water, 3 gigantic boxes of dehydrated food and all the robot dragons you want.

And the LSS comes with special robots that do the (boring) every day space chores. 1 robot specially made for collecting space dust and rocks. Another is made for drilling beneath the surface. These robots do all the work so you can just explore and have fun.

CONCLUSION!!
The L.S.S is a fun space suit made for all humans that are all sizes. Its features are made to suit all kinds of personalities.
